  2.4 Drilling Tools :

(b) Drill Bits : NX, BX & AX Drill bits of T.C. & Diamonds varied from surface set Diamond to impregnant set Diamonds of different S.P.C. procured every year to feed all the rigs simultaneously.
(c) Core Lifters : AX, BX, NX core lifters are procured every year to feed all the rigs at a time.
(d) Core Barrels : Single and Double tube core barrels of 1 mtr. length of AX, BX, NX, types are procured every year to feed all the rigs simultaneously.
(e) Soil Cutter : Spiral & Helical Augers, Triangular steel cutter with side discharge bits are available and procured time to time feed all the drilling rigs simultaneously.
(f) Tools & Wrenches : Adequate numbers and variety of wrenches are available for smooth drilling & Hoisting operations for all the units at sites.
Chain wrenches from 200 mm. to 50 mm sizes, pip wrenches from 1000 mm. to 150 mm., C-spanners of different varieties, Pana and Ring wrenches of required varieties and etc. are available.
(g) Fishing Tools: Gravel Trappers, Chopping bits, rock rolling bits are also available for all drilling units. Male and female fishing tools of different sizes are available for fishing operation if needed at drilling sites.
2.5. Field testing and sample collection accessories : 
a) Standard Penetration Test Accessories : Split spoon sampling confirm to IS : 9640 , spare cutting shoes, Brass Liners, ‘A’ type drill rods, 63.5 kg. Weight hammer and drive weight assemblies are available to feed all the drilling units simultaneously.
b) Undisturbed Soil Sampling Accessories : 
(i) Thin walled tube sampling tubes with Driving head and shoes with spare head and shoes are available adequately confirm to IS: 11594 to feed all the drilling units separately.
(ii) Stationary Piston Sampler : For undisturbed sand sampling, stationary piston samplers are available adequately for all the drilling units simultaneously confirm to IS:8763.
(iii) Pressing and Extraction Deviceses : Besides Driving Assembly of Drive hammer method, rope and tackle method and rack and pinion method accessories are available for smooth and continuous operation in collecting tube samples.
3.0 In-situ testing :
3.1 Field vane shear test :  Field vane shear testing accessories available for very sensitive soil confirm to IS:4434.: 2 sets.
3.2 Sub-surface sounding testing by Dynamic method : Both Dynamic method using 50 mm. & 62.5 mm. cone without bentonite slurry and with bentonite 1 fromslurry, accessories are available each confirm each set.to IS: 4968 Part 1 & 2
3.3 Sub-surface sounding testing by static cone penetration test : Trolly mounted automatic Static cone penetrometer of 3 ton, 10 ton & 20 ton capacities with all assembly in complete confirm to IS: 4968 Part-3 is available for testing: 3 sets
3.4 In-situ Permeability Tests: 
i) Test in over burden : Testing accessories are available both for constant Head and Falling Head method confirm IS : 5529- Part-I.: 3 sets.
ii) Test in Bed Rock : Testing accessories are available both for single and double. packer in ascending and descending order confirm to IS:5529 – Part-II.: 2 sets 
3.5 Electrical Resistively test : The Electrical resistivity accessories are available confirm to IS: 1892-1979. Appendix-B, Clause B-2.: 2 sets
3.6 Block Vibration Test : Mechanical oscillator with coupling, AC variable speed motor with coupling, AC speed control drive, Digital vibration meter in carrying case, Accelerometers, Digital phase angle meter in carrying case, Velocity pickup, Hand held digital tecometer LCD type main card, main cable for speed control unit, flexible shaft 2 mtr base plate.
3.7 Miscellaneous Accessories :
(a) Adequate quantity of moisture cans, jars, container for procuring bore hole water, disturb samples are available. Also center spacers and d riving rod guides are available .
(b) Physical balances, Battery back up Electronic balances, steel scales, callipers , micrometer , screw gauge, sprit lamps, IS sieves, Hydrochloric acids, measuring tapes, polythene, paraffin wax, knife, pistula and etc are available for each unit.
(c) Core boxes and wooden box for shipping undisturbed Soil & Rock sample to laboratories are a vailable for each unit.
(d) Bentonite having thioxotropic properties D.F.S. > 400% PH value 9 to 11.5, density of slurry at 20oc ranges from 1.04 to 1.10 gm./ ml. and Marsh cone viscosity of slurry 30 to 90 seconds are procured and supplied to the drilling units.
(e) One core cutter and lathe is available for making core cutting and sizing purpose. Also one complete lethe and Engineering workshop is in contract for round the year maintenance purpose. 
(f) Camping materials are available for each drilling units separately. By-cycles, Motorcycles, Jeeps, Generators, Drinking water & First Aid, with portable, Furnitures, paper stationeries and calculators are available.
(g) Required numbers of skilled workers, experienced supervisors & Engineers are provided for each drilling unit to execute jobs with sound and errorless technique. 
4.0 FIELD TESTING WING
4.1 Analysis of Water: Battery operated instruments like TDS meter, Conductivity/Salinity meter, pH meter, Colorie meter to check quality of water at site.
4.2 Collection of cores from concrete & bituminous pavement of dia-100m & 150m & rock 50m by machanically operated core cutter for laboratory testing.
4.3 Non-Destructive testing of concrete structures for determination of strength parameters, Rebar location, Chloride penetration, Corrosion monitoring, Cover thickness, flaw detection, by using of highly sophisticated & sensitive Ultrasonic pulse velocity equipments and rebound hammers.
4.4 Moisture Content of wood : 1 set Degital Moisture meter, Battery operated to work at site.
5.0 LABORATORY WING

5.5 Stirring Apparatus :A mechanically stirring device in which an electric motor mounted to turn a vertical shaft equipped with a replaceable stirring paddle of metal to revolve at a speed of 8000 to 10000 rev/ min. when loaded. A special  dispersion cap, container and baffles also available
5.6 Constant Temperature Bath : Double walled bath having 25 mm thick high grade pure glass wool between inside and outside wall. Inside made of stainless steel temperature is control by an imported contact thermometer from room temperature to 100 o C with a sensitivity of + 0.1oC. The bath is provided with a powerful motorized stirrer to ensure proper stirring and circulating of liquid, perforated removable  diffuser shelves, water outlet, speed controller for stirrer, two indicator lights plug and cord. Operatable on 220/230 volts AC. Single phase.

6.0 SOIL TESTING (SECTION)
6.1 MOISTURE CONTENT DETERMINATION : 
a) Oven drying methods: Non corrodible air tight container Balance, oven, Desiccators are available for Laboratory test Purpose.
b) Rapid Determination of water content from the Gas pressure Developed by the reaction of calcium Carbide with the free water of the soil, for field purpose
6.2 SPECIFIC GRAVITY DETERMINATION :
For Fine Grained Soil : Pyknometers 50 ml. Capacity  with stoppers and Density bottle. 100 nos. Other Items : Water bath maintained at a constant temperature of 27 oC, +0.2 oC, vacuum desiccator, desiccator, drying oven, balance, vacuum pump, spatula, wash bottles, sample divider, riffle box, Rubber tubing to feed the pump and desiccator are available. 
6.3 For fine, medium and coarse grained soils : Pyknometers of 1 liter capacity with Brass conical top, screw rings Rubber washers and Gas jar of 1 liter capacity.
Other Items : Mechanical shaking apparatus, Balance and Thermometer are available 
6.4 LIQUID, PLASTIC & SHRINKAGE LIMIT: 
a) (i) Liquid Limit Device :Electrically operated with counting  meter casagrande apparatus and grooving tools, metal gauge confirm to IS:9259.
(ii) Cone penetration apparatus confirm to IS:11196.
b) Plastic Limit Apparatus : Porcelain evaporating Dish,  flat glass plate, spatula, palette knives, ground glass plate, 3mm dia, 10 cm long Rod, air tight containers, Balance and oven.
c) DETERMINATION OF SHRINKAGE FACTORS, SHRINKAGE LIMIT, AND LINEAR SHRINKAGE :

6.5 DETERMINATION OF FREE SWELL INDEX OF SOILS: 
Glass graduated cylinders of 100ml capacity Borosil make and IS sieves of 425 micron are available.
6.6 MEASUREMENT OF SWELLING PRESSURE OF SOILS : 
Consolidometer, Ring, Porous stones, Dial Gauge, water Reservoir, Soil Trimming Tools, Oven, Desiccator, Balance, Moisture Cans confirm to IS:2720 (Part41) 6.7 PERMEABILITY APPARATUS FOR FINE GRAINED AND GRANULAR SOIL
(i) For Soil (Constant Head Type/Falling Head type ) : Mould Assembly confirmto IS:11209; compaction rammer confirm to IS : 9198 water reservoir for supplying water to permeameter  under constant Head, Vacuum pump, IS. Sieves, Mixing pan,  graduated cylinder, meter scale, stop watch, 75 micron wire gauge, thermometer and source of deaired water confirm to IS: 2720 part-17 are available.

6.8 COMPACTION TEST EQUIPMENTS FOR SOIL
(i) Determination of Density Index (Relative Density) of cohesion less soils : Vibratory Table, Moulds with Guide sleeves of 3000 and 15000 cm3 capacity, surcharge base plates with handle, surcharge masses & Dial Gauge holder, Confirm to IS:10837. Dial Gauge 50 mm. (iii) Water content and Dry Density relation using Heavy Compaction : Moulds of small and Large sizes confirm to IS: 10074, metal rammer confirm to IS:9198, Balances, oven, container, steel straightedge IS sieves of 4.75 mm. , 19mm and 37.5mm, mixing Tools confirm to IS:2720 part-8.
(iv) Automatic Compactor with Auto counter is available for Light & Heavy Compaction.
6.9 STRENGTH PARAMETER TEST FOR SOIL :
(a) Direct Shear Test : (Shear strength of soil with particle size of > & < 4.75 mm in consolidated undrained and consolidated drained condition)
(i) The shear box, grid plates, porous stones, base plates, and loading pad and water jacket confirm to IS:11229. Loading frame, weights, well calibrated proving ring, Micrometer Dial Gauges, Sample Trimmer, Stop Clock, Balance, Spatula and a straightedge confirm to IS:2720 part-13.
(ii) Large Direct shear test Equipments for Particle size > 4.75 mm.
(b) Unconfined Compressive Strength Test : Loading devices having 5000kg capacity having two speed screw jack and Strain control having well calibrated.; sample ejector, Deformation Dial Gauge, Vernier calipers, Timer, Oven, Balances, Specimen trimming and carving tools, remoulding apparatus, Water content cans, data sheets etc. confirm to IS: 2720 part 10.
(c) Triaxial Compression : 
(i) Shear Strength parameters of specimen testing in unconsolidated undrained Triaxial compression without the measurement of porewater pressure : Electrical motorized load frame having 30 rates of strain 0.00048 mm/min 6.0 mm/min and by interchanging the drive another set of 24 rates of strain for a maximum load of 5000kg capacity. (ii) Shear strength parameters of a specimen testing in Consolidated undrained Triaxial compression test with the measurement of pore water pressure : All Equipment as given sl.no. 12c (i) with B.shop’s Pattern pore pressure apparatus and volume change Gauge with double burette system and a system to apply Additional axial stress confirm to IS:2720 (part 12) .
(iii) Cohesion less soil for use in a triaxial test: All equipment as given in Sl. no. 12c (i) with additional equipments Confirm to IS:2720 (Part-12)Appendix. ‘A’ for Consolidated Drained test.
(iv) Measurement of Negative pore water pressure: All equipments as given in sl.no.12c (i) with additional equipment confirm to IS: 2720 (Part-35 ). (Computerised & Electronic Triaxial testing machine with constant Lateral pressure equipment like oil-water system; Mercury-water system; compressor and vaccum pump attached with interface meter; De-aired water Apparatus for generating De-aired water for fluid; and sensitive volume change apparatus. High quality software are available with computer to produce the report with Mohr’s circle graphs.) 
(d) Vane shear : Electricaly motorized vane shear apparatus is available as per IS: 2720 Part - 30 for Laboratory vane shear test.
6.10 CONSOLIDATION PROPERTIES DETERMINATION 
Loading Device, consolidation cell, Dial Gauge, Jack and frame, Jig, consolidation Ring, Porous stone, Trimming equipments, Equipments for measuring initial height of test specimen to an accuracy of0.1 mm., Moisture content containers and drying air oven, Balance, Timing Device confirm to IS:2720( Part 15).
6.11 CALIFORNIA BEARING RATIO DETERMINATION : 
Moulds with base plate, stay rod and wing Nut confirm to IS:9669. 99 nos. Collar and Adjustable stem with perforated plates 99 nos. Metal Rammer confirm to IS: 9198, spacer Disc, Expansion measuring Apparatus, weights, penetration plunger confirm to IS: 9669.
Loading machine with a capacity of 5000 kg. And strain of 1.25 mm/min and Dial gauges two numbers of 0.01 mm reading, confirm to IS: 2720 ( Part-16). 1 set. IS: sieves of 47.5 mm and 19 mm., Mixing bowl, straightedge, scales soaking tank of pan, drying oven, filter papers, dishes and calibrated measuring jar confirm to IS: 2720( Part 16). 2 set  L. 6.12 DETERMINATION OF CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF SOIL :
(a) PH value determination : Ph meter confirm to IS: 2711 Glass Beakers with covering glasses, Balance, 100 ml and stirring rods, Two nos 500ml volumetric Flasks, wash bottle, Distilled water, Mortar with Rubber covered pestle, Buffer solutions confirm to IS:2720(Part 26)
(b) Cation Exchange capacity Determination: Reagents, Buchner funnel, Pippets, cylinder graduated, Filter paper, Silica basins : 500 and 1000 ml capacity, water bath, Muffle furnace, Burette, Chemical, Balance, Beaker and etc confirm to IS:2720 (Part 24)

CODES AND ETC.: Advanced Computer with printer and Geotechnical Software Programming , Manual and Electronic typing machine, one Xerox and one Library containing Text books, I.S, codes, Reporting proformas and etc. are available for day to day function of Laboratory.
